The Mega Beta Tote is honestly my new favourite bouldering bag. Perfect size to carry everything I need for a session without being bulky or overpacked.
I used to have stuff everywhere, but now everything has its place and it’s way easier to stay organized. No more digging around for tape, brushes, snacks, or random gear at the boulders.
Big fan of the design too, simple, functional, and looks good. Super practical bag that’s already become a go-to for every climbing day.
This bag is great. So roomy. Fits everything I need for climbing AND my computer which is nice because it can be my work bag. I haven’t tried yet but thanks to the nice designI think it will be roomy enough for me to go climbing outside with this.
So excited to have a bag that allows me to keep my shoes/chalk separate when I’m heading straight from work to the gym. Plenty of room for clothes, harness, rope, water bottle, and personal items.
I ordered this bag on a Friday and it was already delivered by Monday with free shipping!
Thanks so much! And glad it fits everything you need.
We prioritize quick turn-around shipping, so nice to hear it arrived quickly!
Genuinely adore this bag, I can fit both of my pairs of climbing shoes in it, my massive chalk bucket, spare clothes and so much more and it still isn't full up! I also really like the way it looks 😍
I love it so much. Best travel bag I’ve ever had. 👍
Im really enjoying my new mega beta tote bag. I have been searching for a back pack for the climbing gym. & this one really cought my attention so I had to get it. Honestly I really like how I can carry all my equipment & stay organized & clean at the same time. Very comfortable & holds up really good. Only thing I wish it had was bigger side pockets for bigger water containers. The inside water pocket works good just wish the out side pockets were bigger. Over all great bag to stay organized.
Gotta say, I'm loving this bag. The generous space and thoughtful design details simplifiy my gym routine and organization, which was unexpected (it feels like my mom packed my lunch for me the night before). I wear an EU 40 in climbing shoes and can fit two pairs in the front pocket. The interior organiziation is such a great addition to the roll top tote design. It serves as a great stuff-all which I love for quick, spontaneous gym sessions and with the added organization I don't lose my things at the bottom like I do with my other climbing bags. The red webbing clip points by the exterior bottle/stuff sleeves make it so my stuff doesnt fall out when I'm biking or tossing the bag around. The hook nose hardware feels secure at the top closure and the straps--I find that I wear it as a backpack more than a tote, but it's nice to have the tote straps for quick grab and go. I ran into Megabeta at my local climbing gym and was thrilled to see a local, small business tackling everyday climber's needs. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Got this bag for me and my wife it holds our harnesses chalk bags water bottles and shoes perfectly really happy with it! The two loops on the sides makes it easy to hang your shoes from but even if you didnt wanna do that it would probably fit inside.
Kickstarted the bag and was excited waiting for it. Since it has arrived it has become my daily bag. It is honestly almost perfect. I wish there was another bigger pocket inside with little pockets and hooks and what not for organization like cords, pencils etc.. but that can be rectified easily enough. Really my big thing I would change for v2 would be how the bigger tote sleeve closes. The one tiny magnet in it is just not strong enough and I wish it had some type of zipper or clasp. Maybe even a buckle like the dry fit bags. All in all I do love the bag and use it everyday. Thanks my friend.
Thank you Robert! Glad you like the design and materials. The inside pockets are very minimal, and yes the top closure is more of a hiking pack style. Appreciate the feedback!
Really a great bag! great organization and just the right size for what I need to bring to the climbing gym! I love that the bag can be used as a tote or a backpack. Perfect for rope, harness, chalk bag and shoes + a laptop. If the outer pocket fit two pairs of shoes that would be nice, but overall no complaints!
Its a really good bag,
I got this bag in February and have loved it! Jono was amazingly helpful as well! Our bag was delivered to the incorrect address and USPS said they couldn't do anything to help us and could not provide us with the address they delivered it to. Jono shipped us a new one without any question! Incredible customer service. The bag itself is just about perfect! The only small problem is the shoulder straps loosen fairly easily. But, that's a small issue and I just tighten the straps every time I put the bag on. It's just about perfect!
I want to like this bag. I have spent a lot of time looking for the perfect climbing bag, went through the reviews and thought this was it. I think the bones are there, but the execution is lacking.
Without going into details, this pack tries to do everything but just falls short a bit on all fronts, but it still works as a pack. For this price point I would not enthusiastically recommend it.
For reference, I am almost exclusively a boulderer which will bias my opinion. I have had this bag for 6 months now. (Dec2026-June2026). I have used it as a gym bag and outdoor trips (traveled via car and plane, whole day sessions). I've tried organic packs (boulder roll), tension packs (the first version of the aux pack), one-bags, and general 30L hiking packs in the past for similar amounts of time (6mo-1yr).
Pros
- 2 water bottle holders. Most bags have 1 or even none which is crazy. I usually carry around an enormous water bottle and a drink that has carbs (gatorade, etc.)
- Can be a backpack or tote. Amazing.
- Fairly spacious main pocket even if you account for the cons below.
Cons
- Ain't no way I'm fitting my shoes and chalk bucket in the front pocket. If you care about your shoes and they are downturned/aggressive this pocket will flatten them out. Which means:
- Shoes and chalk end up going in the big black hole pocket. Which is fine, most other packs do this too. But this means laptop, clean clothes, etc. is out. This defeats the feasibility of a "daily" bag, because it doesn't carry anything but climbing gear.
- This means skincare kits need their own minibag inside, or need to be in the front pocket to stay clean/chalk free.
- The front pocket is difficult to use if your main pack is full.
- The backpack straps loosen too easily.
- Stuff just falls out of the top sometimes.
- The zipper tie/knot-string things all fell off within a month or so.
Neutral Notes
- If I put shoes in the big pocket, I can carry ~2 pairs of shoes, 3 total if I hang one pair outside.
- Lots of carabiner clipping options.
- Lots of pockets for organization on the inside that I don't use but that is a personal thing.
Thank you for this. Six months of real use and four other bags to compare against is the most useful kind of review we get. The zipper pulls falling off is on us. We'll switch back to the heat-shrink pulls from our sling bags in the future, and if you email us and we'll get you sorted with a fresh set of pulls.
To the other comments: it's fair that bag is mainly for carrying climbing gear to the gym, but not quite a do-everything bag, particularly at 24L volume.
Taking all this into consideration when we make the next version.
Thanks again!
Great bag for the gym! Well laid out and plenty of room for a rope, shoes, chalk, harness, belay devices, clothes, and everything else you need.
Amazing backpack! I love the design, the color, and the amount of space this totepack holds. I’ve brought it with me as a work bag that holds my laptop and journal, then all I do is go straight to the climbing gym because the rest of my climbing equipment is with me.
I especially found Jono to be very helpful and is just overall a very pleasant person to work with. I’ve told my other climbing buddies about Megabeta and I also am certainly going to be buying from Jono again!
Bag is almost amazing. The stow-away straps are perfect, but the loose clip to close the roll-top is a complete miss. It opens, especially when bag is full, unless it is almost empty.. Possibly two adjustable straps with snap clips on top would keep stuff it the bag. Had stuff fall out while riding bike. Possible a V2 improvement?
Thanks for the honest review and the thoughtful V2 suggestion. As a small brand we take feedback very seriously and it helps us keep improving. You're right that the clip has limits when the bag is full and in motion, and dual snap-clip straps is something we're actively looking at. Sorry about the stuff that fell out mid-ride! We're going to reach out directly about swapping out your g-hook hardware, which mightnot be up to our standards. Thanks again for taking the time to write this up!
I like just about everything with this pack. I bought it for my climbing gym bag and it holds what I need very well. It looks great and has very useful storage. I have two suggestions though. I wish there was a drawstring or something to close the top and while the nylon webbing for the shoulder straps is nice it doesn’t stay tight in the buckles. I find myself have to tighten the shoulder straps each time I use it. These are minor issues though. Overall I love it
Thanks so much Michael! It's not as sealed as a drawstring, but we chose the roll-top closure for versatility. And for the shoulder straps, we have now added a quick slip keeper piece onto the straps to hold them tight. We'll send you one ASAP to add.
Love the look of this bag and the materials, and it just about hits all the marks for me. As a gym bag, I think it works really well and has plenty of room for chalk, shoes, harness, climbing clothes, water bottle and some small accessories. I really like that I can keep my shoes and chalk bag separate in the exterior pocket. As a do-it-all gym/work bag, I can make it work to avoid having two bags to commute with, but it falls just a little short for me with the lack of organization. While the laptop sleeve is great, I wish there were more internal or external pockets available for keeping things like my ear buds, glasses, pens, etc., separated.
My bag also had an issue with the backpack straps slipping. Jono was quick to respond with a solution of adding a tri-glide to each strap that has alleviated the problem. Overall, it's a good bag as long as the size and organization suits your needs!
The bag is well designed and a very good quality piece.
Awesome to hear! Yeah, we put a lot of effort into picking top material (made with recycled plastic bottles) so glad it feels good in the hands.
High quality and thoughtfully designed for climbing
Great bag for gym climbing. I can fit my 40 m rope, harness, shoes, and all my additional gear. I love that I have the option to have as a backpack or a tote. It’s also really great for using as a rope bag to flake out my rope when I’m lead climbing. Everything stays nice and neat and doesn’t get tangled and I have the option to pick it up and move to a different wall and not have to re-flake my rope out. Would like to have seen a drawstring design to seal the bag instead of the magnets. But as long as the bag isnt too full the retaining strap is able to keep all contents inside the bag from falling out.
Got it as a gift for my hubby and I ordered a sling for myself. It has so much room, nice little pockets and it’s easy to hold and wear. Thank you.
Very nice quality bag. My only annoyance is no proper closure making it impossible to use as a backpack in busier places.
Très bonne qualité, manque peut être de quelques rangements supplémentaires a l'intérieur. Les sangles du sac à dos ont tendance à se desserrer toutes seules.
