Here’s why the secret to climbing harder lies in “pebble pinching.”
While he’s world famous for climbing big walls and recently pushing himself in sport climbing, Alex Honnold says everyone should boulder.
If you want to be on the cutting edge, from sport climbing to big wall climbing you have to push your limits.
"You have to do hard moves and hard moves are found on hard boulders.“
— Alex Honnold
Alex admits that it’s a one way street where bouldering teaches you skills for big wall climbing and not the other way around, but he does say he’s learned to be very comfortable on his feet, specifically on slabs.
I’m not sure if I’d endorse climbing hundreds of feet of granite to learn slab climbing.
But it certainly forces you to figure it out.
And bouldering definitely teaches you to do harder moves.
